Experience learning English !!!

Imagen
I think learning English at the university has been a good experience, the academic load, and the way of teaching the language is quite friendly. However, I have never been very good at English, so sometimes I still found it difficult. Regarding the blogs, I think it is a very good methodology, because it allows you to interact with your classmates and learn from what they post. Also, I had never had a blog before, so it was fun to learn how to create one. Also, the possibility of writing about topics of personal interest or of our careers, allows us to relate topics we already know, with the learning of the language. However, I am not a very bilingual person on a daily basis, just the typical. A little bit of music in English, series, movies, etc. But not too much either. Sometimes for other subjects at the university it is necessary to read texts in English, then it gets difficult ajsaj but in those cases, together with my classmates we manage to understand the text. ...

Changes to my study programme :)

I think that geography is a career with a great diversity of subjects, that means a very varied curriculum. However, this year I have realized that, despite having many good and useful subjects, there is a lack of subjects that help us to practice, like providing solutions to problems and not only investigate them. Because throughout the career we always investigate, we make a diagnosis of everything that happens in the territory, but very rarely the projects reach a moment of providing solutions, so we lack practice in that. I also think that there are many programs that we could work throughout the career, so that they are not foreign or complex when we have to use them in the working world, or in the process of practice and title memory. Such as, for example, REDATAM, SPSS, QGIS, etc. These are programs used to work with large data matrices  according to what it is to be investigated or solved. Although now I seem very convinced of the relevance of these method...

Travel to the future :s

Imagen
I think that the future will be very scary, I don´t imagine it with flying cars or like it´s show in movies. I don´t have a very optimistic vision because of the current condition doesn´t help prognosticate a favourable panorama for the upcoming years. I imagine that the future will be chaotic, lack of water, bad atmospheric conditions, little flora, little fauna, etc. Nevertheless, I would still like to go, I think there will be a lot of knowledge and technologies that could help reverse the current global climate chaos. As in the movie Geostorm jsaj, I think that it´s imagine too much, but it would be incredible (very good movie, recommended) But I wouldn´t like to travel too many years into the future, maybe 20 or 30 years, because I believe that in 50 or 100 years there will be no point of return. I really do not know if we can still remedy something on this planet, but clearly in 100 years it will not be possible. The truth is, I would not like to stay in the future...

Coastal zone management !!!!!!!!!!

Imagen
I think one of the lovely things about geography is the possibility of thinking about multiple job options due to the multiple fields that the discipline involves. For example, there are geographers who work in geographic information systems (GIS), geospatial data analysis and processing, risk management, coastal management, among many others. But for me it is attractive the possibility of working in coastal management linked to ecological territorial planning, I believe that in the Chilean coasts there are many things to improve to give a safer living to the communities. It is also necessary to recover and conserve the different coastal ecosystems that have been strongly degraded by the urban transformations of the coastline. Dunas de Cóncón I hope to have the possibility to work in the field, so that the management is based on local knowledge and adequate to the territorial reality, both ecosystemic and community. Because at least from geography, it is always important to...

"Mi pais inventado"

Imagen
In this post I will briefly comment on the last book I read: Mi pais inventado, by Isabel Allende.  I had only read one book by this author when I was a child, Cuentos de eva luna, but I don't think I appreciated the magnificent narrative, irony and grace that she has in her writing.                                                                   Isabel Allende This book   : Mi pais inventado, is mainly a description of Chile, based on her memories of her childhood and life. It considers physical, historical, geographical and political characteristics, as well as critiques of the different historical contexts he goes through during the narrative, along with customs and memories and his family. However, what guides this work is the nostalgia of the author, which gives the starting point to the book, as ...

😊😊😊😊 geography!!!!

I’m a fourth-year student of , and the different interesting topics that are involved in the career give many options when thinking about the future. Because it has social and natural themes, which are constantly linked. But I have always felt inclined to coastal geography. I still have a lot to learn, because the subject is quite complex since it involves many variables. But last year with a colleague we did a study of “Bahia Quintay”, which is located in the commune of Casablanca, and it was very interesting to know and analyze the impacts of urbanization on the coastal dynamics of the area. Such as the vegetative changes that the area has suffered, the decrease in flow of an estero ☹ , increased accumulation of sand, loss of species, etc. I think that studying these phenomena is interesting, but, above all, necessary, because the different natural environments require protection and care, both because of the risks associated with living near the sea, but also because of ...

Concerts 💓💓

Imagen
My list of concerts is small, I have gone to see only local artists in small festivals. I think my biggest concert was when I saw "Los tres" and "Francisca Valenzuela" at the same festival. But I won't talk about it jajajaja😹 When the pandemic did not exist, and I also had more time and less university responsibilities, I went to the theatre a lot to see classical music concerts, for me it was a great panorama!. It was an habit that I acquired since I was 15 or so when I was still living in Chillán. My favorites are the quartets concerts when they include string and wind instruments. Although most of them really seem magnificent to me. I particularly remember a concert they gave at the GAM (cultural center Gabriela Mistral in downtown Santiago), but I don't remember the names of the musicians. Still, I remember that it was an adaptation for piano and cello of some works by Johann Sebastian Bach. It may sound very boring and unexciting, but i...
